Day 13 (29+5)

Day 13 was a good day.
Good things: a healthy report from nurse Cathy, a surprise visit from Sara, an awesome package from the Kelleys, cinnamon buns from Julie, phone call with Courtney. I'm also thankful for Camp Good Times (even though I am sort of sick of staying inside). We are grateful to have made it through another day.

An interesting fact we learned in the only prenatal class we went to is that babies taste what we smell. It makes sense if you think about it. This unfortunately has not stopped Dane from creating unwanted smells. Smells he calls "anxiety gas."

Reading: New Grisham book (yes it is a literary feat)
Watching: nothing, they sent us Season 2, Disc 2...I can't start with Disc 2!
Getting crafty: not yet.

Day 29+6 involves another ultrasound. This means I get to wear my new maternity coat again and go in a car! Now that is exciting. Although I have always loved Amanda, a few hours away from her will be good for me. Props to Amanda.

2008 Presidential Race (Day 12)

Maybe I am going a bit wacky over here, fatherhood coming like a freighttrain and all, but I think I found an excellent pair to fill the "Independent" ticket in the 2008 Presidential race. Vote early; vote often.

Day 11 (aka 29+3)

I'm thinking we should start counting Operation Antepartum by the gestational age of our baby, not the amount of days I'm not allowed to do anything. Yesterday (Day 11) our baby turned 29 weeks plus 3 days and because everyday counts so much, this seems like a bit more of an optimistic way to look at things. Other reasons for optimism:

*Dane has had 2 snow days this week
*I've had lots of visitors and excellent reports from all doctors, nurses and midwives who have checked me and the little guy.
*Veronica Mars Season 2 should be arriving any day now.
*We had amazing granola & strawberry preserves from the Wuest household.
*Rachel has a beautiful bouquet of flowers (from J&C) to rearrange all over the house
*I was permitted to leave the apartment to go meet my new Obstetrician yesterday. Not only was he a great doctor, but I was allowed to go in a car all the way to 12th & Cambie!
*My sister is still in town and my mum is arriving today.

Day 10 - Visitors!

Other thoughts: I was so grateful for all my visitors today. Dawn and Sara helped clean up our room, Julie & Carol surprised me with a visit and a few cute baby outfits, Rochelle & Titus stopped by for some laughs...and the nurse and the midwife!
Phone props to some out of town friends in Edmonton and Burrito Land. I hope my visitors can keep it up as I go the distance.

Week at a glance: I get to leave the apartment on Tuesday for a Doctor's appointment! Big Excitement. Also: pending snow day for day.

Jane and the baby

Well, as if this week wasnt enough, Jane's water broke this morning at 6AM. She and the baby are doing fine right now and she is having no labor pains. But, the bad news is that she is hospital bound for the forseable future (in Victoria). The baby is now at 28 weeks and our goal is to push out the labor as far as possible-even a few weeks would be great. The baby would then be very premature but would be put in an incubator and should recover fine. However, we are looking at a long haul in the hospital for the next month or two.

With everything that has gone on this past week with her dad, this seems to be more than we can bear. However, we are trying to exercise our faith muscles and trust God. Your prayers would be great too! Also, if I cant make it, you all NEED to go support Sly Stallone on January 25th - see Rambo to help boost the box office draw. :) j/k

I dont know what else to write here. I will try to send more emails as news becomes available.

Shalom,
Dane (and Jane and Rocky jr.)
